The Horticultural School of the Luxembourg Garden was created in 1809 on the initiative of Jean-Antoine Chaptal, Minister of the Interior, on the site of the former Luxembourg imperial nursery, on the site of the Chartreux nursery, and since then it has taught its know-how to many generations of students.

These courses, given by the staff of the Conservation des Jardins du Luxembourg in the Pavillon Davioud, are open to all and free of charge. Horticulture courses take place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Jardin du Luxembourg: from the beginning of October to the end of December for theoretical courses, and from January to June for practical courses.
